About the Position: Front desk/reception area of Dental Treatment Facility. Working environment: Clinic hours 0730-1630 with one hour of lunch. Providers include general dentists, specialty dentists, and registered dental hygienists. Patient volume and throughput includes scheduled patients and walk-in/phone calls for scheduling/re-scheduling/military paperwork. Applicant expected to maintain professional demeanor, outstanding customer service, and teamwork among clinic and unit staff.

Duties

Maintain patient records in accordance with dental clinic procedures. Maintain reference files such as bulletins, information booklets, patient guides, and other educational brochures or pamphlets to provide to patients. Schedule patients for appointments using an electronic system. Utilize office automation tools such as computers, printers, copiers, facsimiles, and Microsoft Office to compose correspondence. Verify eligibility for care by reviewing patient documents and identification. Route patients for service or care based on patient needs.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires a National Agency Check w/ Inquiries (NACI) background check.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position requires the employee to wear a uniform, scrubs, or other appropriate medical professional attire while on duty.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination. A candidate selected to this position will be required to sign a statement consenting to annual seasonal influenza vaccination.
  • Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
  • This position is subject to screening and update of required immunizations unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons in accordance with Army Regulation 40-562, Chapters 3 and 4.
  • This position may be eligible for Situational/Ad-HOC Telework.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and Certifications from the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross within 6 months of hire.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of by 60. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: ClericalComputer SkillsCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical) Time in Grade Requirement: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non temporary competitive appointment.
