This position is located on a Forest Service Ranger District with responsibility for accomplishing a variety of support services. For additional information about the duties of this position, see the "Education" section for location specific contact information.

Duties

Duties Listed are at the Full Performance Level. Utilize computer's software package to prepare reports, graphics, spreadsheets, database queries, charts, interoffice mail, etc., to complete assigned work tasks. Provide services to include budget, travel, procurement, property management, records management, Quarters/Housing Management, liaison, training, and clerical services to support unit (or management). Perform regular budget updates, corrections and report discrepancies to a supervisor to maintain the unit budget. Purchase supplies or services for unit using established procurement methods. Perform customer service functions to internal and external customers to support the unit. Provides technical and administrative supervision to subordinate employees.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. For more information on the qualifications for this position, visit the Office of Personnel Management's General Schedule Qualification Standards. Your application and resume must clearly show that you possess the experience requirements. Transcripts must be provided for qualifications based on education. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Specialized Experience: For the GS-6 Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5); OR one full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as Business or Public Administration, or other administrative or management fields related to the position being filled); OR combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Examples of specialized experience are: Assembled monthly expenditures for operating budget reporting; Reviewed correspondence for grammatical accuracy; Purchased, received, and distributed supplies and special order items, including reconciling purchases in a database and monitoring when additional supplies needed to be ordered. For the GS-7 Level: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5); OR one full year (18 semester/27 quarter hours) of successfully completed graduate level coursework that is directly related to the work of the position (such as Business or Public Administration, or other administrative or management fields related to the position being filled); OR combinations of graduate level education that is directly related to the position and specialized experience. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university. Examples of specialized experience are: collecting and analyzing budgetary information and statistical data for use in the formulation and execution of budget requests and reports; Purchasing supplies, equipment, and services; Creating travel orders and vouchers; Composing, typing, and proofreading correspondence and narrative and tabular material (i.e., databases and spreadsheets). Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
