This position is located Harper Ferry Job Corps Civilian Conservation Center in Harpers Ferry, WV. This position is responsible for providing vocational instruction in order to develop and instruct students in the Business Occupations vocation. Duties

Responsible for preparing course materials in the fundamentals and basic and advanced skills of Business Occupations. Reviews course materials ensuring the most up-to-date information is utilized in the development of course materials such as study guides, visual aids, simple simulations, written tests, training aids, and course outlines. Establishes individual training plans for each student assigned to the Business Occupations vocational training program based on the student's entry level skills. Oversees and instructs student who are accomplishing assigned training projects which include projects for the Work Based Learning programs, occupation exploration during the Career Preparation Period, and various Work Programs Division projects. Responsible for maintaining accountability for all students assigned.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualifications requirements as defined below by the closing date of the announcement. For more information on the qualifications for this position, visit the Office of Personnel Management's General Schedule Qualification Standards. Provide course descriptions as necessary. Basic Requirement: GS-09: Specialized experience is defined as three or more of the following:Developing and evaluating instructional material needed in order to improve instruction practices; Serving as a subject matter expert in identifying problems or deficiencies with a training program and recommending course improvements; Demonstrating proper techniques and methods used in a Business Occupations environment; using current computer technologies and their applicability to the Business Occupations field; and maintaining training course materials and records; instructing the use of equipment such as laser printers, scanners, computers, and modems; keyboarding skills; and the use of computer software packages for word processing, spreadsheets, desktop publishing, desktop and network operating systems, electronic mail, Internet browsers, and communication software. -OR- A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related, that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.; -OR- I have an appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level) related to the position in Training or Education. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
