About the Position: Assigned to the Range Branch, Training Divisions of the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security, with responsibility for performing a variety of tasks incidental to maintaining and operating the ranges, training and administrative areas.
Duties
Install, operate, maintain, repair and sustain in an operational status; a variety of target systems and components of systems.
Operate computer-controlled target systems console and execute scenario sequences for operations.
Operate and performance maintenance (to include operator level troubleshooting and making authorized repair/replacements) on AC/DC powered target devices.
Conduct operator level maintenance on Stationary Infantry Targets, Moving Infantry Targets, Stationary Armor Targets and Moving Armor Targets.
Performs basic carpentry and electrical work as required.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- May be required to have, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid state commercial driver’s license, required government drivers license and operator’s license.
- May be subject to random drug testing in accordance with EP 600-1-3 and AR 600-85 due to driving requirements and equipment operation of position.
- Incumbent is subject to an irregular tour of duty to cover a continuous 24 hour a day, 7 days a week range operation.
- May be required to have certification, and/or a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A, B, and C, as required, for all assigned equipment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Range Maintenance Worker (MVO/FLO)~ without more than normal supervision. Must have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks as a Range Maintenance Worker (MVO/FLO). I am skilled in operating range targets computer systems. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence. Must have the ability to perform the full range of tasks on a computer system. I am skilled in performing preventive maintenance checks and services (PMCS) on equipment. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. have the ability to perform support and maintenance work for the computerized automated ranges and maneuver live fire ranges.

The work requires heavy physical effort, good hand, eye, foot coordination, good depth perception; and mental alertness in the operation of various types of equipment, controls, and attachments. The employee must be able to exert physical effort for prolonged periods of time such as standing, walking, reaching, bending, turning and sitting, working in awkward positions and considerable strains to the body while accomplishing work in rough terrain flat, uneven surfaces and other field surfaces.
Work is performed in all types of weather, often in and open driver's seat or platform, on steep hills, slopes, grades, rolling surfaces, and forests. The operator is exposed to injury due to the possibility of the equipment overturning. Incumbent is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from the motor and exhaust. Must wear and/or use protective equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations and SOPs.
