About the Position: This position is for The Dalles Project and serves as an Administrative Support Assistant to the Administrative Officer. The incumbent provides technical and procedural support to the management and project personnel on administrative matters.

Duties

You will monitor identified programs or processes to determine discrepancies and problems. Assist with administrative functions related to purchase requests. Track and schedule medical exams for periodic and pre-employment physicals. Assist employees with benefits, travel, and training issues. Track time and attendance for employees.

GS-05 Qualifications: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience with Microsoft Office Suite applications and editing text for grammar, punctuation, etc. Specialized experience also includes general office responsibilities such as filing, data input, routing phone calls, and greeting visitors. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). -OR- Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. At the GS-06: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes includes experience assisting personnel on administrative matters such as travel, training, correspondence, timekeeping, employee benefits, property and supplies, and /or records management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). -OR- Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration, Business Management, etc. -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. At the GS-07: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience independently performing duties such as: providing guidance to and assisting organizational personnel on administrative matters such as travel, training, correspondence, compiling data, generating reports, timekeeping, employee benefits, property and supplies, and /or records management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). -OR- Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Administration Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Management SupportOral CommunicationTechnical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent.
