This position is responsible for providing a variety of clinical social work services to Native American patients/clients and their families, including screening, evaluation, counseling, care coordination, treatment planning, discharge planning, patient advocacy, consultation, referral to community resources and assisting clients in the maximum utilization of needed federal, state, local, tribal and private community resources. This position reports to the Director of Professional Services.
Duties
Assesses patients and families for a variety of psychiatric and emotional concerns with particular attention to those concerns in the context of the patient's family and community.
Develops interventions based on above needs assessments and exercises; assists patient and family in negotiating with healthcare providers and other community human service providers regarding healthcare decisions and concerns; coordinates and arranges placement of patients requiring long-term care.
Provides education to patients, their families, hospital staff and other interested community members on mental health mailers such as depression, child abuse, parenting and grief and others.
Complies reports when necessary and assists local agencies in interpreting these reports.
Takes leadership role in assessing and responding to community adults/families service needs.
Works in collaboration with the supervisor to develop social work/counseling services.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Degree: Social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:GS-09:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Provide basic assessment, diagnose, and treat a range of psychiatric illnesses; identify and assess psychosocial functioning; understand and respond to medical treatment; provide therapeutic intervention to improve wellness; provide intensive case management services to include liaison, consultation, and teaching relationships to multidisciplinary team; provide referral services and counseling to all age groups; OR
Completed Two (2) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree, or a master's degree in social work; OR
Combination of education and experience, in one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field, that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:GS-11:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-9 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Collaborate with other health professionals to assess client needs; refer patients to community resources; provide individual or group counseling; coordinate care with expert diagnostic and treatment consultation to medical providers; assess in-patient needs and patient discharge planning; provide therapy to all age groups utilizing a variety of accepted treatment techniques; develop treatment plans; provide interventions surrounding drug, alcohol, co-occurring disorders, and crisis intervention to potentially life-threatening emergencies; OR
Completed Three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree that is directly related to the work of the position; OR
Combination of education and experience, in one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field, that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position.
