This position is an Engineering Equipment Operator, WG- 5716-10 working in Cheney, Washington for the Inland Northwest National Wildlife Refuge Complex

Duties
As an Engineering Equipment Operator, your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
Operate a variety of tracked and wheeled heavy equipment, such as excavators, dump trucks, motor-graders, agricultural and articulating tractors with implements, and dozers above the D6 size.
Provide mentorship or instruction of new operators on the safe and proficient operation of a variety of equipment such as: tracked and wheeled heavy equipment, excavators, dozers, dump trucks, motor-graders, agricultural and articulating tractors with implements, front-end loaders, ATV/UTV, trailers, and/or boats.
Service and repair equipment that includes checking fluids, lubricating, replacing components that require dismantling of the equipment such as radiators, hydraulic tanks, alternators, tracks, excavator bucket teeth, and rebuilding components.
Perform maintenance on motor vehicles to replace sensors, water pumps, spark plugs, brake shoes, mufflers, radiator caps, condensers, engine gaskets, and a variety of belts and hoses.
Troubleshoot and perform repairs to a variety of heavy mobile equipment and vehicles by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts and components.

- Driver’s License: Selectee required to possess and maintain a valid State driver's license at all times during their tenure.
- Uniform: Official U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service uniform required.
- Probationary Period: Selectee may be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

Although no specific amount of experience, education or training is required, applicants must meet a minimum level of ability in relation to the position and the Assessment Questionnaire in order to be rated qualified for consideration. To be qualified candidates must meet any screen out element(s) listed at an "acceptable" level, and must achieve an average rating of at least "acceptable" on all of the elements. Only education, training, or experience acquired before the closing date will be considered.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated.
