You will serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Military) in the of Navy Recruiting District of NAV RECRUITING DISTRICT PORTLAND.

Duties

You will establish and maintain all required forms, records, and files pertaining to assigned work. You will track and process all military gains and transfers. You will review and verify records to identify discrepancies and gaps in information. You will research and/or provide factual information regarding directly applicable rules, regulations, procedures and requirements to provide explanations of actions taken or recommended. You will enter data in automated systems, as needed along with track pay related issues through military pay systems. You will execute command sponsorships and indoctrination programs: send welcome aboard letters and assigns sponsors. You will retrieve data from various information sources, both manual and electronic, for use in answering questions, responding to correspondence, or preparing reports or briefings.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing automated systems to enter personnel information; 2) Establishing personnel forms, records and files in accordance with policies and procedures; and 3) Retrieving personnel data to answer questions, respond to correspondence, or for preparing reports or briefings.
