This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: The Alaska District is seeking to fill an Architect position. An ideal candidate will have experience as a Senior Architect responsible for applying the professional knowledge of architectural design principles and techniques for in-house work.

Duties

Makes field trips to investigate sites and/or existing building conditions to acquire required information prior to initiating design and/or reviewing AE design and preparing SOW’s. Prepares in-house design by evaluating design objectives, identifies most economical and efficient procedures after considering all functional and aesthetic requirements. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of computer aided design and drafting (CADD) and Revit (BIM), software for preparing specifications and various architectural design software packages. Reviews A-E design work to ensure design and technical excellence and compliance with criteria and current regulations and codes.

The entry requirement requires completion of education or a combination of education and experience sufficient to be comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a four-year course of study with a major in the professional or scientific field. GS-12 Specialized Experience One year of specialized experience which includes developing architectural designs and construction documents, ensuring compliance with codes, standards and other criteria on a variety of facilities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-11). For the GS-12, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
