You will serve as a Safety Technician in the Safety & Occupational Health Division of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.

Duties

You will assist in the development of shop job hazard analysis by working with shops to prioritize jobs and gathering injury rate information. You will assist in the development of safety training material by identifying shop safety training needs and the effectiveness of existing training materials. You will keep supervisors and operations officials informed of changes in the administrative regulations as they affect procedures and operations of the office. You will assist with conducting pre-scheduled and impromptu safety and occupational health inspections at all activities including contractor operations.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Identifying shop safety training needs and the effectiveness of existing training materials to assist in the development of safety training material, 2) Working with shop supervisors and safety specialists in evaluating effectiveness of various program elements to assist in the development and execution of the command Shop Safety Concern Reporting Program, 3) Assisting in the development of job hazard analysis by working with shops and branches to prioritize jobs and gathering injury rate information and mishap histories, and 4) Reviewing mishap reports filed by government employees, contractor personnel, and the public to identify causes and possible safety violations. Education

The following education is qualifying for the GS-07 and may be substituted in lieu of experience: One full year of graduate education. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work as a Safety Technician.

Please note: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.

Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (https://www.ed.gov/).
