This position is located in Refugee, Asylum and International Operations, Asylum Division, Los Angeles Asylum Office, in Tustin, CA. As a Mission Support Specialist, you will coordinate and perform a wide variety of administrative and management services essential to the operations of the office.

Duties

The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity. Research and analyze applicable rules, regulations, policies, and guidance surrounding administrative programs. Coordinate and monitor a variety of administrative projects and activities. Gather, organize, and conduct analysis of data from a variety of sources. Collaborate with internal and external organizations to perform assigned tasks. Advise management on regulations surrounding essential mission support functions.

Qualifications

The qualifications for this position must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02/23/2024. Current Federal employees must have served 52 weeks at the lower grade or equivalent grade band in the Federal service. The Time-in-Grade requirement must be met by 11:59 PM (Eastern Time) on 02/23/2024. GS-07: You qualify at the GS-07 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Assisting with routine administrative matters; Obtaining the most up-to-date information on procedural requirements; Providing procedural assistance on routine administrative matters; Maintaining databases and identifying issues; and Compiling a variety of reports. OR You may substitute successful completion of one year of fulltime graduate education for the experience required at the GS-07 level. This education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university and demonstrate the skills necessary to do the work of the position. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise a year of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 18 semester or 27 quarter hours. OR You may also substitute superior academic achievement for the experience required at the GS-07 level. You must have completed the requirements for a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, class standing in the upper third of a graduating class or major subdivision or membership in a national scholastic honor society. GS-09: You qualify at the GS-09 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties: Researching and analyzing applicable rules, regulations, policies and guidance surrounding administrative programs; Coordinating and monitoring a variety of human resources and/or administrative projects and activities; Gathering, organizing, and performing analysis of data from a variety of sources; Collaborating with internal and external organizations in performing assigned tasks; Advising management on regulations surrounding essential mission support functions; Identifying and recommending solutions to administrative issues and providing advice to staff; and Procuring goods and services in accordance with an organization's policies and budgetary requirements. OR You may substitute a Master's degree or 2 full years of graduate education leading to such a degree in any field or a J.D. or L.L.B. degree for experience required at the GS-09 grade level. Such education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Check with your school to determine how many credit hours comprise two years of graduate education. If that information is not available, use 36 semester or 54 quarter hours.
