Duties
Responsible for ensuring the correct configuration of network devices.
Develops and maintains documentation regarding network configuration, operating procedures, necessary to maintain the reliability of the network.
Develops plans and procedures for remote installation of applications and upgrades using state of the art software distribution methods.
Serves as network administrator responsible for configuring hubs, and switches, monitoring network performance, performing network diagnostics, analyzing network traffic patterns; and installing network software fixes and upgrades.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
- May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.
- The employee will be required to take a drug test.
- Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
- This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months.
- This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certification.

- Work may require access to classified information. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
- Irregular and overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies.
- The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.
- This position is designated as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparation for, or in response to, a state emergency or disaster declaration.
Qualifications
IAW DoD 8570.01-M you will have 6 months from date of hire to acquire the appropriate IAT, IAM or IASAE level certification designated by the position and/or supervisor. Failure to do so may result in termination.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
Must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. Experience developing of new methods, approaches, and procedures; providing advice and guidance on a wide variety of complex IT issues. Knowledge, training, or experience establishing connectivity between remote sites; troubleshoot network problems; Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) management. Experience or training as a technical coordinator or technical specialist on issues relating to the WAN/LAN systems and their integration with the network and is responsible for ensuring the correct configuration of all network devices. Experience with major network projects designed to ensure the timely and resource-efficient accomplishment of critical network projects that enhance network capabilities and services. Experience, training, or knowledge researching and testing of C4 system hardware/software results in the development of new methods, procedures and policies that may be used throughout the National Guard. Experience or knowledge developing a wide variety of policies and procedures to be used by other network administrators to ensure the continued efficient operation of the state's network systems. Must have at least 12 months of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

The Human Resources Officer (HRO) is the final approval for all ETP waivers. If approved, the memorandum will be returned to you and then submitted with your application.
Education
You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-12. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.
