Duties

This Supply Technician position is located George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). If selected for this position, you will be responsible for performing a variety of systematized supply operations. Work activities typically supports the work of other employees and contributes to the activities of the organizational unit or major subdivision. Specific program responsibilities include the following: Supplies/Inventory Management: Ensuring the procurement, receiving, storage and distribution of consumable supplies and security equipment, at assigned airport(s). Conducting routine maintenance on security screening equipment, as well as determining and performing any corrective maintenance. Coordinating and performing internal inventory audits. Fleet Management: Assisting the Vehicle Custodian (VC) in the day-to-day operation of the airport's fleet. Establishing and maintaining an effective utilization program that ensures efficient and economical use of motor vehicles consistent with the utilization polices and restrictions. Assisting in the monthly review of vehicle utilization and annual certification of usage, to include mileage, days used, hours used, trips per day, and purpose for which the vehicle is used. Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance of equipment such as systems calibrations, using technical manuals, handbooks, and standard operating procedures. Establishing and maintaining a regular maintenance program to ensure operational readiness. Conducting operations checks, systems calibration, inspections, materials cleaning, and parts replacement on Explosive Detections Systems (EDS) and Explosive Trace Devices (ETD) equipment. Maintaining necessary parts inventories. Diagnosing malfunctions and providing maintenance applying established guidelines. HAZMAT: Coordinating the collection, storage and disposal of items, including the hazardous material (HAZMAT) surrendered to TSA. Overseeing the local HAZMAT program and ensuring that it is executed in accordance with TSA Federal, State and local regulations. Ensuring HAZMAT containment areas are inspected daily to guarantee storage integrity in accordance with State guidelines. Maintaining HAZMAT records. Voluntarily Abandoned Property (VAP): Assisting in managing VAP in TSA occupied areas, including ensuring accurate information is provided to the Property Management Off icer (PMO) for file insertion. Ensuring proper care, handling, and disposition of VAP is executed in a manner that is not detrimental to the public.

Qualifications

To qualify for the SV-E Pay Band (equivalent to GS-7/8), you must have one year of specialized experience at the SV-D Pay Band orGS-6 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped you with the knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience includes monitoring supplies inventory; and coordinating or performing internal inventory audits. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
