The mission of the OCDETF Program is to reduce the supply of illegal drugs in the United States and diminish the violence and other criminal activity associated with the drug trade. To accomplish this mission, the OCDETF Program leverages the skills and expertise of prosecutors and agents from federal, state, and local agencies to combat the most prolific drug trafficking and money laundering organizations.
Duties
As an Intelligence Research Specialist GS-0132-12, your typical work assignments may include the following:
-Execute complex intelligence analysis, monitor, review, and analyze intelligence traffic from multiple sources advising on specific concerns.
-Analyze information on target individuals and/or organizations by identifying relevant data sources, and extracting and validating data.
-Identify and utilize a variety of law enforcement and intelligence databases to monitor and conduct research activities.
-Interpret intelligence and raw data and devise position after assessing diverse source materials, often fragmentary, inconsistent, and unsubstantiated.
-Perform complex, large-scale projects that generate complicated intelligence research questions and require novel approaches and the flow of intelligence information between agencies and anti-terrorism organizations.
-Prepare comprehensive and authoritative written intelligence products that fully document research and analytical efforts, including projections, conclusions and recommendations.
-Identify the need for further research, analysis, or investigation and make decisions concerning the consolidation and dissemination of information to various law enforcement agencies and other organizations.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
- You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
- Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Intelligence Research Specialist at (GS-0132-12), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.
If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).
Specialized Experience GS-12: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the federal service which includes: Interpreting and analyzing highly specialized and sensitive intelligence information from multiple sources, determining and defining the essential elements of information obtained and the most effective method for carrying out data collection; Implementation of intelligence program practices and procedures used to manage the case flow of intelligence documents and/or data collected; guiding analysis of and research of source documents, case files, and other specifics; Serving as technical expert, planning, developing, and conducting special research studies used for translating intelligence data, and providing recommendations based on information gleaned to management.
