This position is in the Environmental Management Service at the VA Hudson Valley Health Care System in New York. The incumbent plans, coordinates, and performs a variety of administrative, clerical, and technical duties involving the processing and maintenance of information related to the day-to-day operations and other administrative programs in support of the Environmental Management Service (EMS).

Duties

Duties include, but not limited to the following: Performs a wide variety of administrative management duties i.e., timecard information, data, space, etc., under the minimal supervision of the Chief, EMS. Receives all visitors and telephone calls to EMS Chief, EMS Assistant Chief, and EMS General Foremen. Refers important business and visitors to the appropriate staff when applicable, takes messages for their attention or makes later appointments for visitors. Prepares, compiles, and assists in the preparation of a wide variety of correspondence including but not limited to answering to requests from the director's office, the VISN office, and other services as needed. Prepares assortments of reports and presentations including but not limited to Power Point, data graphs, RMC data reports, timecards related reports, and intra- organizational documents i.e., policies related documents, RCAs, fact findings, etc. Provides advice and assistance to the service line staff in the application of accepted administrative methods and procedures i.e., patient affects handling and storage, requesting time off, items labeling and handling, and laundering processes. Incumbent attends inter and departmental staff meetings, prepares agenda, and takes minutes for departmental meetings. Serves as timekeeper for the Service. Obtains and monitors the use of services, supplies, or equipment for the office. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties designed to insure the timely and efficient accomplishment of division program goals. Performs a variety of administrative support duties for EMS for the Hospital Housekeeping Officer. Performs work related to employee training reports for EMS. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/16/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience with clerical and administrative procedures; carrying out day-today administrative support activities, preparing correspondence, reports and graphs. Utilizing a variety of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and other software applications.
