These positions are located at the VA Medical Center in Northport, New York performing duties associated with the Beneficiary Travel program that provides transportation at Government expense to beneficiaries and their attendants traveling to and form VA facilities and other places for the purpose of examination and treatment of care.
Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Determines eligibility for the beneficiary travel program and processes requests;
Correctly determines which of several fund control points to utilize, obligates funds, maintains accounting records, performs reconciliations and adjusts account balances;
Receives invoices for payment of transportation services;
Decides method of payment for authorized and unauthorized ambulance claims submitted;
Explains regulatory guidelines to beneficiaries for submitting any unauthorized ambulance claims;
Balances, reconciles, and adjusts invoices for payment;
Utilizes a computerized record system to review medical records, authorizations and orders;
Documents and prepares account synopsis for contracting officials;
Arranges all modes of transportation;
Secures reservations and tickets from carriers;
Forwards correspondence to receiving facility travel department and/or physician;
Reviews requests for reimbursement of travel costs;
Performs other directly related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, Hours vary between 7:00am and 5:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, all applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-5) in the Federal Service that has given me the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes arranging all modes of transportation; applying transportation regulations and practices to perform a wide variety of administrative support; exams and processes vouchers, invoices, and claims for reimbursement of travel expenditures; assisting customers with completing travel vouchers, travel requests, adjusting itineraries, etc. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: The work requires no special physical demands, but will require some physical effort such as standing, walking, bending or sitting. The work is performed in an office setting.
