Duties
Plans, organizes, and manages the command awards program
Prepares and conducts periodic briefings for staff and administrative personnel to promote a full understanding of all aspects of awards and decorations.
Recommends amendment if needed by subordinates or headquarters staff sections.
Serves as the organizations FOIA and PA action officer.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Temporary Duty (TDY), approximately 10% of the time.
- 1 year trial period may be required.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work of this job. Specialized experience is defined as: experience with responsibility for administering the individual, unit and cadet military awards program, recurring annual Soldier and Cadet awards sponsored by outside organizations approved by the Army, heraldry and matters of regulation, and Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) actions. Provides guidance and assistance to the organization commander, staff and subordinate commands in the conduct of these programs. Provide advisory services and make decisions or recommendations based upon an analysis of the customer's need, the facts of the individual case or action and the applicability of standard procedures or approaches. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
Education

Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. OR J.D. if directly related to the position being filled
