About the Position: This position is located at the Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE), Doctrine and Division, Fort Sill,, Oklahoma. Serve as Visual Information Specialist developing electronically integration art and text formatting used in planning, development and staffing Army publications and forms being distributed in the Army wide Doctrinal and Training Literature Program (ADTLP). Will maintain/update graphics and illustrations for manuals which are revised by Doctrine Division.

Duties

Serve as the FCoE DOTD Doctrine Division Visual Information Specialist. Provide guidance as technical and functional expertise for the Fires Center of Excellence (FCoE), Doctrine Division graphics related issues. Prepare pages to translate page content into visually appealing graphics that enhance the image of a particular function. Determining the appropriate amount and type of graphical support required, to include photographs, sketches, line drawings, special effects, use of color, choice of type font, etc. Coordinate all copy and artwork and prepare them for shipment to the printer. Advise the chief on the concepts and support requirements and revisions to the print contract. Produce original finished artwork etc., for the publications in support of submitted manuscripts. Maintain updates designs and review the Doctrine web sites. Use Microsoft Frontpage, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe InDesign, HTML code and ASP code needed to update current doctrine websites and plan and develop new pages, files or sites as needed. Arrange for photographs to be shot for use in publications and forms for training exercises, equipment, and individuals.

Requirements

  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET Clearance.
  • Occasionally works irregular hours to encompass travel to and from remote field locations and facilities to perform photo shoots, graphic illustrations and familiarity with new systems and emerging air defense concepts.
  • Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized.
  • Defense National Relocation Program will NOT be authorized.
  • Recruitment/Relocation/Retention Incentive may be authorized.

AND 3) Provide guidance to writers on the use of graphics for the development and preparation of publications. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture, drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields related to the position. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
