You will serve as an EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the RADIAC FIELD MANAGERS (233) of NMC ORD SYS ENG MGMT.

Duties

You will develop and recommend modification as to improve or eliminate problems in field maintenance, operation or logistical support. You will recommend disposal or other disposition of the unserviceable equipment based upon its condition and field requirements. You will develop, coordinate, review for approval/disapproval recommendation and is responsible for the submission of changes to the RADIAC Policies and Procedures Manual (RPPM). You will ensure that adequate facilities are available to support the maintenance, calibration and processing of work assigned and ensure proper manning of the facilities. You will ensure compliance with NAVSEA, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Department of Transportation, and local requirements governing the use of radioactive sources. You will assign and schedule each activity possessing RADIAC equipment to a Calibration Laboratory and adjust work loading at the laboratories accordingly. You will conduct periodic technical, safety and quality control audits of RADIAC Calibration Laboratories, to ensure compliance with NAVSEA, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Department of Transportation requirements.

• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

To qualify for the Information EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST, GS-1670-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience representing the NAVSEA RADIAC Program, being the liaison and coordinating resolution of issues pertaining to RADIAC policies, procedures, and instructions. Experience utilizing knowledge of NAVSEA RADIAC policies and procedures to manage and coordinate programmatic processes and/or issues that arise pertaining to the program. Experience interfacing with personnel, commands, and activities at various locations to include the RADIAC Office, RADIAC In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA), end use sponsors, customers, and RADIAC Calibration Laboratory (RCL) personnel. Experience understanding the requirements and regulations related to the Naval Radioactive Materials Permits (NRMP) and familiarity with the Navy Radiation Safety Committee (NRSC). Experience in the financial budgeting process to include assisting fund administrators in identifying appropriate funds, evaluating annual RPM Budget proposals and submitting monthly financial reports on labor and material expenditures.
