This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.
It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA JOINT FORCES HEADQUARTERS - DODIN.
Duties
Battle Captain for the Joint Force Headquarters - DODIN (JFHQ-DODIN) Operations Center (JDOC) in the daily management of a 24/7/365 operations center focused on the Command and Control (C2), synchronization and de-confliction.
Participates in or leads the prioritization and direction of global and/or theater-specific DODIN Defensive Cyber Operations (DCO) response actions to cybersecurity events.
Supports crisis action planning by providing information environment situational awareness with a primary focus on contingency operations.
Monitors performance of global networks and systems.
Tracks and documents cyber defense incidents from initial detection through final resolution.
Develops priorities and objectives to ensure timely resolution of events/incidents/problems and provides timely, accurate, and relevant situational awareness to local leadership and impacted customers.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
- This national security position, which may require access to classified information, requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance as a condition of employment. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination.
- Top Secret/ SCI security clearance required.
- Drug Testing Position.
- This is a Mission Essential position and is subject to recall or call back during off-shift hours, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, if required by upper management.
- Shift work required. General Shift Hours: 1st shift (0500-1500), 2nd shift (1300 - 2300) and 3rd shift (2100 - 0700) four days a week.
- The incumbent may also be required to physically report to an alternate duty station during the activation of a Continuity of Operations (COOP) Plan.
- This position is covered under DoD Manual 8140 which will be subject to future Cyber Workforce requirements as defined by the Manual.

Qualifying Experience:To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.
For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Monitoring and analyzing cyberspace and cybersecurity events while performing trend analysis in order to produce statistics-based status outcomes, coordinating incident response functions, monitoring external data to monitor and maintain cyber defense threat conditions.
