This position is located in the Health Care Services Directorate, Professional Services Division, Rehabilitation Services Branch.
Duties
As a SUPERVISORY OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST (REHABILITATION PROGRAM MANAGER), you will:
Perform appropriate assessments, evaluations and treatments involved in the prevention of physical disability and movement dysfunction and pain resulting from injury, disease, disability or other health-related conditions.
Receive referrals and consultations from physicians and document same. Confer with physicians and other healthcare professionals regarding referral procedures.
Provide consultation to the rehabilitative team, which includes the physicians, nurses, physical therapists, recreational therapists, psychologists, conservators, family members and others, to coordinate therapeutic services and programs for patients.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Basic Requirement- Degree: A graduate or higher level degree in one of the following Allied Health field of study:
A curriculum approved by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), Speech Therapy (CAA-ASHA) or a professional accrediting organization recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained; AND
Completion of the clinical requirements prescribed by the school.
Basic Requirement - License: Candidates must have both a permanent, full, and unrestricted license AND a state board certification as a Physical Therapist, an Occupational Therapist, or a Speech Therapist, in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Basic Requirement - Certification: Applicants must have passed the national examination administered by the governing board in their respective specialty; National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT); National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE), or Praxis for speech therapy.
Specialized experience for the GS-12: You must have one year of experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 level in the federal service, that is directly related to the position and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience is defined as:
Supervising therapy staff, including professional personnel and support staff; AND
Monitoring therapy services to ensure quality care and accordance with medical guidelines and regulations.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-12, you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
SPECIAL NOTE: Long-term care experience and/or interacting with geriatric patients is highly desired.
