Duties

You will disassemble and overhaul motors, generators, alternators, controllers, relays and circuit breakers. You will replace coils in relays, time delays, magnetic brake assemblies, defective wiring, switches, rheostats, instruments resistor banks, and panel boards in the power, lighting and signal systems. You will replace connectors, junction boxes, conduit, receptacles, lighting, and fixtures on crane booms, cabs, and "A" frames. You will install and maintain alarm and signal systems, including bells, buzzers, lights, and electrical booster systems for internal combustion engines. You will be troubleshooting, repairing and/or overhauling weight and material handling equipment such as mobile cranes, industrial platform vehicles, scissor lifts, personnel platform lifts and electrical powered vehicles.t

Requirements

  • Must qualify for a government license to operate vehicles up to 2½ tons and types of equipment. normally driven in performing the duties of this job.

Qualifications

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION. Your resume must show that you have the ability to perform common tasks including: 1. Must have a working knowledge of AC and DC electrical principles, the theory and operations of motors, generators, batteries, controllers, and testing equipment; 2. Requires the ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Must be able to use practical mathematics, as well as testing and measuring devices common to the electrical trade; and 3. Must be able to work with components and equipment designed, ranging from six to 440 volts AC and DC.
