The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a logistics management specialist in support of acquisition phases of assigned systems, programs, or major equipment.
Duties
This position performs logistics management operations involving difficult and unusual issues related to planning, coordinating, managing, or evaluating the logistical actions required to support assigned mission, weapons systems, subsystem, project, or other designated program.
Coordinates with functional specialist in conducting life-cycle analysis, and identifying specific requirements and capabilities, lead times, costs, and other matters affecting logistics planning. analyzes and provides workable solutions to critical short-and long-range logistics issues related to program effectiveness and direction.
Develops logistics guidance in response to policy and recommendations from the Chief of Maintenance, Director of Logistics and Systems, and Commander. Assists in development of logistics portions of Concepts of Operations, Operational Requirement Documents, and Mission Operational Requirement Documentation, for new mission areas and revises logistic support plans as required.
Provides management. acquisition and technical expertise to support program reviews, evaluations, and technical discussions associated with system installations, repairs, upgrades, modifications, and logistic sustainment.
Provides knowledge/guidance of DOD and Air Force maintenance management directives, policies, and regulations is required in order to provide advice and guidance to the staff functions on the use and interpretation of data elements, the analysis process, trends, and the root cause and effect relationship portrayed by mission system maintenance management performance parameters.

- All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
- The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Special Sensitive Security Clearance with access to sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions.

This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: experience in the related fields of configuration management, logistics, acquisition, and project life-cycle management of diverse and complex projects. In addition, knowledge of maintenance management processes and procedures. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, policies, principles, methods, procedures, and other guidance related to various functions of life-cycle logistics support; and understanding of the interrelationships of various disciplines required to manage systems/ projects/ programs.
2. Knowledge of organization, and understanding of the specialized needs of the programs or operational
areas supported.
3. Knowledge of agency programming, planning, funding, and management information systems and ability to integrate the separate logistics support functions in planning and implementing a logistics management program.
4. Ability to coordinate effectively with functional specialists to identify specific requirements, and to develop and adjust plans and schedules to meet requirements and ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, and to work effectively with groups and individuals in planning efforts and in working out solutions to problems or questions.
5. Ability to apply qualitative and quantitative analytical techniques to analyze current and/or projected operating programs, to evaluate effectiveness of logistics support, and resolve logistics management issues.
6. Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
