Duties

Drives passenger buses regardless of gross vehicle weight and various types of trucks such as platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, and trash removal trucks weighing from 26,000 to 32,000. Assists with loading and unloading cargo and materials. Ensures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity by checking cargo papers and by visual observation. Completes trip tickets and preventive maintenance service records. Ensures vehicle is not loaded beyond the rated capacity by checking cargo papers and by visual observation. Performs driver's maintenance in accordance with established rules and regulations. The operator receives instructions from the supervisor or dispatcher as to the type of vehicle to be operated, destination, purpose, deadline, and work to be done.

Requirements

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Drives outside in all kinds of weather in all types of traffic at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems.
• Exposed to dirt and fumes, and the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as a result of accidents while driving or from falling objects when loading and unloading the vehicle.
• All required pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation and physical examination.
• This position has critical safety or security responsibilities and as such has been designated as a testing designated position (TDP).
• As a condition of employment, incumbent of a TDP is subject to a random drug test that occurs without suspicion that a particular individual is using illegal drugs.
• This position is covered by the DA Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program. Incumbent is required to sign DA Form 5019-R.
• Incumbent will work shifts during the week to include, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Possession of a valid State Driver's License or CDL to operate a government vehicle with a capacity for transporting 24 passengers is required.
• Selected applicants must successfully pass a Medical Physical Examination.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma. Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Demonstrated skills in successfully operating standard tools. Experience in accomplishing the types of duties described in this job. Requires a valid state driver's license to operate a 15 passenger vehicle OR requires a commercial drivers license (CDL) with no restrictions to operate a 24 passenger vehicle. **HS Diploma and valid Driver's license must be uploaded in order to receive consideration in meeting qualifications.** **Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the minimum qualifications criteria above.
