The primary purpose of this position is to to operate, maintain, and develop equipment for a variety of globally deployed assets supporting Nuclear Debris Collection and Analysis Program (NDC&A) and the National Technical Nuclear Forensics programs. Serve as system expert responsible for ensuring maintenance and deployment readiness of nuclear analysis equipment.

Duties

Field Analysis Maintenance and Operations. Performs technical duties to identify and resolve maintenance issues on a variety of nuclear analysis systems. Training and Documentation. Ensures all field analysis technicians in the Detachment are trained on operation and maintenance of the detachment's analysis systems and supporting equipment. System Development Advisor. Represents Squadron during requirements development, program reviews, evaluations, meetings, and technical discussions associated with logistics support requirements for developing, testing, and deploying materials analysis systems to meet operational and logistics constraints. Depot Logistics Liaison. Acts as detachment focal point for development, administration, and continuous evaluation of the logistics program supporting materials analysis techniques that comprise the field analysis system. Detachment Radiation Protection Technician. Serves as Detachment Radiation Protection Technician.

  • All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period.
  • Position is designated special-sensitive and requires eligibility for access to SCI, other Special Sensitive information, or involvement in Special Access Programs to perform the duties of the position. A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.

  • This position has been designated as a Testing Designated Position. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions. This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. NOTE: You must meet both the Basic Qualifications and Specialized Experience requirements stated below: BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Education Undergraduate Education: Major study -- any field of study in an accredited college or university. Graduate Education: Major study -- fields related to the position to be filled. OR Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Examples of qualifying specialized experience include: Working as a skilled mechanic or maintenance worker, sales or service engineer, or planner or estimator in a technical group dealing with manufacture, utilization, repair, or operation of equipment. Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements. Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements. Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders. Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met. Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience includes: knowledge of ground-based collection systems operations and maintenance to include nuclear detection technologies, cryogenic principles, gas separations and isolation, particulate debris collection and analysis, and their unique operating environments. Reviewing and applying technical specifications and requirements. Analyzing equipment and forecasting spare parts requirements. Reading and interpreting engineering change orders, equipment requisitions, shop orders, and work orders. Analyzing contract specifications and examining pertinent equipment to determine if specifications are met. Analyzing or supervising maintenance, repair, or production operations to determine methods of improvement. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. Knowledge of maintenance processes, concepts, theories, practices, and policies, as well as logistics management, to ensure support issues are properly considered during the development of materials analysis systems maintenance support concepts. 2. Extensive theoretical and practical knowledge of ground-based materials analysis systems operations and maintenance to include underlying sophisticated nuclear detection technologies, cryogenic principles, gas separations and isolation, particulate debris collection and analysis, and their unique operating environments. 3. Knowledge of computer operating programs, such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and ability to interpret those applications to systems control structure and collection systems configuration, operation, and maintenance. 4. Knowledge of rules and regulations involved with legal and safe handling and shipment of radioactive samples. Training in ALARA principles and basic radiological safety techniques. 5. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, to provide briefings, reports, technical advice and recommendations to others; as well as establish effective working relationships. 6. Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
