Management Specialist in the Office of the Chief of Surgery. In this position, one must demonstrate the ability to function as an effective member of the team, as well as maintain good intra-departmental relationships. Teamwork is of critical importance. Accomplishment of duties and responsibilities depends upon a culture of teamwork and cooperation.
Duties
Major duties include but aren't limited to:
Functions as the Automated Data Processing Coordinator (ADPAC) for Surgery Service.
Coordinates with Surgery Leadership, to include all Section Chiefs to maintain information on the Surgery SharePoint site.
Use initiative and completes assignments within the organization with minimal supervision.
Completes quarterly ADPAC audits for Surgery Service.
Troubleshoots and solves the majority of basic, common computer and printer problems.
Assigns computer access, menu options, and verify codes to new staff, residents and students and determines level of access to be granted.
Provides training to staff in the various ADP programs utilized within the Healthcare System. Provides basic computer training on hardware, data processing procedures, CPRS, clinical packages and other processes and procedures.
Independently determines most computer/IT equipment and accessory needs of staff.
Liaisons directly with the Clinical Applications Coordinators (CAC's) for all application issues related to the CPRS and other related clinical software and with Information Technology (IT) Specialists on computer hardware problems.
Collaborates with CAC's and IT Specialists for assistance, consultations or problem solving package issues. hardware, desktop system, software issues and/or network I VISTA issues.
Research and provide feedback to staff who present problems with VISTA clinical applications, contacting appropriately Office of Information and Technology and Health administration, CAC's and/or other ADPACs in other services.
Serves as PIV Sponsor for Surgery Service.
Performs work related to the resolution of user hardware software application, and/or system problems.
Act as liaison between Surgery Service, ISO, and other ADPACs.
Coordinate data validation procedures to check the quality of data being entered into the database .
Conducts Abbreviated New Employee Orientation (NEO) for providers and service level orientation with new employees after they have completed Healthcare System NEO.
Work Schedule: 8:00 am-4:30 pm M-F
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/20/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade.
You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: experience with VA Systems/ databases and procedures; proficiency with Word. Excel, VISTA, CPRS, MyIT, EPAS system, and LEAF tickets; communicate verbally and in writing on different levels of understanding to include technical, administrative, and professional (medical and non-medical), to include preparing reports, spreadsheets, and other professional communication; train and educate a variety of disciplines.

Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as papers, books, small parts or equipment. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
