The primary purpose of this position is to to provide a student trainee who has been appointed to the Pathways Program with on-the-job training and guidance to further student technical development
Duties
Performs selected tasks and phases of routine studies and projects that require application of basic occupational field theory and principles in the technical area of logistics.
Participates with senior personnel in conducting non-routine projects.
Provides assistance in planning, monitoring, and conducting special studies, projects, and initiatives.
Complies with safety, security, fire, health and environmental requirements.
Requirements
- Must meet suitability requirements for Federal employment
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must be enrolled at least half-time at a qualifying accredited institution
- Must sign a Participant Agreement
- U.S. citizen or national (resident of American Samoa or Swains Island)
- Must be eligible to work under U.S. immigration laws
- Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guidance
- You must be a student currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Accepted for enrollment or enrolled in an approved program
- Pursuing a Baccalaureate Degree (Junior/Senior only), Graduate or Professional Degree
- Enrollment must be at least half-time course load as defined by the education institution (typically six hours or equivalent for undergraduate and three hours or equivalent for graduate)
- Have a good academic standing (no less than 2.95 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 grading scale)
- Meet the qualification standards of the position
- Non-citizens may be eligible for employment if Permitted by the DoD Appropriation Act
- May be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft in the performance of official duties.
- This position is established under the provisions of the Pathways Program.
- A Secret security clearance is required; Employee may be required to obtain and maintain the security clearance.
Qualifications
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a developmental opportunity, this position may be filled at the GS-04 Target GS-05 level with promotional potential to the GS-11.The individual selected for this position may be considered for promotion to a higher grade without further competition upon meeting all legal and regulatory/program requirements.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of basic occupational theory, principles, concepts, and practices in the technical area of logistics.
Skill in applying basic occupational theory, principles, concepts, and practices to perform student trainee assignments.
Ability to follow instructions and guidance to complete assigned task and communicate information to others in oral or written format.
Ability to analyze problems, identify significant factors, gather and interpret pertinent data, and apply establish rules and procedures in order to recommend effective solutions.
Ability to learn and apply basic investigative techniques to accomplish work in the subject-matter field.
Ability to gather and analyze basic facts, information, and data, and draw conclusions.
Knowledge of safety, fire and health guidelines and regulations.
