This position is located in the Division of Interpretation and Education at Harriet Tubman National Historical Park.

Duties
The incumbent assists in conducting the park's curriculum-based education programs at the early childhood through post-secondary levels, as well as interpretive programs geared for youth and families. The programs are multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary, using not only the sciences but also the arts and humanities as routes to cultural and environmental understanding.
Presents curriculum-based programs and interpretive programs designed specifically for youth, family, and life-long learning audiences.
Assists with basic research, and the writing, review, and organization associated with the development of curriculum-based education program objectives, lesson plans, and resource materials.
Presents in-park and out-of-park programs for school groups of all ages ranging from pre-school through college-age groups and including other adult groups with an education focus.
Manages small and very large groups of students participating in outdoor learning activities on single day field trips and during special events.
Answers inquiries concerning the goals, curriculum content, and scheduling of the full array of public educational programs and services as well as inquiries concerning park resources and outreach materials.
Duties are developmental in nature. The full performance level of this position is Grade 07.
Qualifications
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-02/16/2024-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.
EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: developing and presenting history/environmental education programs to school groups; writing education materials for teachers, training and/or leading others involved in DEIA/history/outdoor/environmental education for student groups as a teacher's aide (elementary-high school) teacher, history/environmental educator, park/museum guide (presenting curriculum-based programs). You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: Successfully completed four years of education above the high school level from an accredited college or university in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year is general defined as 30 semester hours or 45-quarter hours. PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify, you MUST subject a copy of your college transcripts.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: I have less than the amount of experience described in A and less than the full amount of post-high school education described B, but I have a combination of the type of education and experience when combined would total 100% which would qualify for the position. (Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours may be used to meet this standard) PLEASE NOTE: If you are using education to qualify, you MUST submit a copy of your college transcripts.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an
accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.
If you are using
education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
