The mission of the Office of Commercial Space Transportation is to ensure the protection of the public, property, and the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States during commercial launch or reentry activities, and to encourage, facilitate, and promote U.S. commercial space transportation.
Duties
Serves as a Program Analyst in the Office of Commercial Space Transportation (AST), Safety Authorization Division (ASA-100) acting as a principal technical specialist on marine agreements, laws, regulations, policies, guidance, and practices in the accomplishment of the licensing program and is recognized as a subject matter expert in this area. Helps to lead, facilitate, plan, and coordinate across AST to foster collaboration, ensure quality and timeliness, implement greater consistency and standardization, and promote best practices, in supporting the manager during routine daily operations.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the FV-I, FG/GS-13 level. This experience is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.Specialized experience is defined as: 1. Experience analyzing the maritime impacts of space launches, reentries, and site operations and preparing maritime agreements between commercial operations and federal and international maritime authorities; evaluating applications to determine if the maritime agreement meets licensing regulation guidelines.2. Experience working with environmental specialists to resolve maritime issues and incorporate the appropriate analysis into NEPA documents.3. Experience providing maritime expertise during safety analysis review of commercial space licensing applications and advising safety inspectors to ensure the accuracy of commercial space launch surveillance plans and enforcement of maritime hazard zones. AND4. Experience collaborating with industry, stakeholders, and interagency partners to support the actions and activities of commercial space launches.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
