The primary purpose of this position is to provide a qualified Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) maintenance technician to perform required duties; inspect, maintain, repair and modify AGE used in direct support of all wing aircraft systems and/or sub-systems.
Duties
-Performs preventive maintenance 011 ground support equipment systems.
-Performs major and minor maintenance on ground support equipment systems, major components, support components, and associated components.
-Performs periodic, routine and special inspections of ground support equipment.
-Accomplishes operational and maintenance record keeping, both manual and automated, associated with ground support equipment maintenance and repair.
-Utilizes sound safety practices and procedures and complies with following established security and safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
-Maintains and controls tools.

Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-5300 Industrial Equipment Maintenance Group, Powered Support Systems Mechanic, 5378 series Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
The screen out element for this position is the ability to perform the duties of a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC without more than normal supervision.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
I. Knowledge of the makeup, operation, installation, and adjustment ofa variety of major interrelated and/or
integrated ground support equipment systems, subsystems, and assemblies such as fuel, hydraulic and pneumatic
systems, electrical control systems, instrument interpretation.
2. Knowledge of the theory and operation of internal combustion diesel and gasoline engines.
3. Knowledge of electrical principles (AC/DC), solid-state circuitry, and safety rules and regulations pertaining to
ground support systems.
4. Knowledge of the operation of power generator systems, including generators, regulators and transformers.
5. Knowledge of regulations, procedures, and policies related to records maintenance and documentation.
6. Knowledge of activity basic supply procedures and requirements.
Physical Effort
Performs work that involves frequent bending, reaching, crouching, standing, and arm movement. Sometimes must work in awkward positions or cramped areas. Must frequently lift and carry items weighing up to about 40 pounds and lift heavier items using jacks, hoists, or helpers.
Working Conditions
May work inside or outside. Inside work involves frequent exposure to drafts, changing temperature, and loud noise. Outside work may involve exposure to bad weather, rain or snow, or wet or icy conditions. Both inside and outside, frequently exposed to irritation or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or surfaces. May work on parts and systems which are dirty and greasy and which may be dangerous to operate or repair because of defects. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of receiving cuts, bruns, bruises, strains, and electrical shock while repairing, positioning, adjusting, and moving equipment, and is exposed to the possibility of receiving burns and skin irritations from acids, fluids, and lubricants. To reduce the dangers and irritations from the above conditions, the incumbent must follow numerous safety procedures and wear equipment such as protective eyeglasses, ear devices, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, respirators, gloves, and clothing. Some of these safety items may be uncomfortable to wear or use, and may be worn or used for long periods.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
