We expect to fill one or more vacancies in each location at this time; however, if needed, other locations within the Montana/Dakotas State, District or Field offices may be considered based on need and management discretion.
Duties
Preparing receipts, records, and tracking forms for monies, depositing them in accordance with instructions.
Preparing correspondence for off ice supervisors and managers, disseminating it to appropriate personnel while maintaining appropriate records.
Assisting in the completion of records reviews, inventories, and dispositions.
Processing daily incoming/outgoing mail.
Maintaining the central filing system (official records, directives, manuals, references, etc.).
Providing general customer service both orally and in writing, through in-person, phone, or email contact. May staff front desk of a receiving office.
Purchase supplies and equipment using simplified acquisition procedures through the DOI integrated charge card program.
Enter and/or validate time and attendance records in the automated payroll system.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.

For GS-04:
You must possess one year of general experience. General experience is any which indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. This can be paid or unpaid work experience.

Education: You must have completed two years of study above high school, in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite, in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university.

Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate undergraduate education.
For GS-05:
You must possess one year of specialized experience at the GS-04 level with the federal service. Specialized experience includes performing administrative duties in support of the daily mission of an organization such as managing meeting schedules, reviewing incoming and outgoing mail, responding to general inquiries from staff or customers, proofreading and finalizing correspondence, accepting and handling funds for sale of goods, tracking and gathering data/information from various automated and non-automated systems.

Education: You must have completed four years of study above high school or a Bachelor's degree in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite, in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college, or university.

Combination of Education and Experience: You may meet qualifications requirement for this position with an equivalent combination of specialized experience and appropriate undergraduate education.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
