This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, US Coast Guard, First District, Prevention Division, Bridge Administration, Boston, MA.

Duties

This role of this position supports the Supervisory Bridge Management Specialist in directing and coordinating the operation of the Bridge Administration Program, including all pertinent subprograms, such as: evaluating projects for permitting new structures or modifying existing ones; investigating changes to drawbridge operation regulations; coordinating drawbridge casualty repairs as well as routine maintenance with navigational needs; approving and tracking bridge construction and coordinating its impacts with navigational interests; conduct navigability investigations and make jurisdictional determinations for waterways and bridge projects; facilitating Truman-Hobbs investigations; adjudicating bridge navigation lighting and fender system discrepancies, coordinate with marine interests and approve bridge navigation lighting and fender system plans.

Qualifications

At the GS-13 Level: Applicants should have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service. To qualify for the GS-12 applicants must have at least 1 year of specialized experience at the next lowest grade equivalent to a GS-11 in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include: Providing education and advice through the preparation of technical papers, presentation of lectures at professional conferences; reviewing draw tender logs; Providing guidance to bridge staff and bridge owners regarding navigation lighting requirements; providing recommendations regarding changes to drawbridge operating regulations and bridge location and plans and impact on both present and prospective navigation and the environment; developing and maintaining professional networks.Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
