About the Position: This position is located at ST LOUIS, MISSOURI, assigned to USAJFK Special Warfare Center & School, Special Warfare Medical Group (A), at Fort Liberty, North Carolina.
Duties
Serves as a Special Operations Combat Medic Clinical Preceptor.
Assists in course material development.
Engage with key leaders and staff, providing organization capabilities briefing, scope of practice and goals of training.
Counsels and mentor's students.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The work environment will consist of, but not be limited to the classroom, laboratory, and the outdoors. Required to work outdoors regardless of the weather conditions.
- Required to serve intermittently on an extended hour work week of up to 60 hours, as such, this position requires mandatory compensatory hours and/or overtime.
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Position requires knowledge of the human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, veterinary subjects, laboratory subjects, general medicine subjects, nursing, surgery, and anesthesia.
- Must obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- May travel TDY up to 15% of the time.
- Former instructor or graduate of the Special Forces Medical Sergeants (SFMS) course or the Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM) course or equivalent course of instruction.
- One year trial/probationary period required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized experience: One year of specialized experience in performing doctrinal oversight and instruction of Special Forces medicine for US military personnel. Assists in course material development. Counsels and mentors students. Serves as the primary hospital/emergency medical services (EMS) preceptor. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-09.
OR
Successfully completed a Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled such as knowledge of the human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, veterinary subjects, laboratory subjects, general medicine subjects, nursing, surgery, and anesthesia. OR
Possess the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least two years of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required three years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
