This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Director of Operational Logistics, Base New Orleans, Electronics Systems Support Detachment (ESD), New Orleans, LA.

Duties

This position involves performance of system maintenance for electronics system configurations to all ship and shore commands throughout the ESD New Orleans area of responsibility. 

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Applicant is required to meet the physical requirements of the position.
  • This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • The position requires a valid state driver's license.

Qualifications

Applicants will be evaluated on their ability to perform the duties of the position rather than the length of experience. Eligibility will be determined by the relevance, scope, and quality of all experience and training, regardless of where or how acquired. Applicants will be rated and ranked based on their knowledge of the following job elements:  Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of equipment assembly, installation, repair, etc., Use of test equipment: Electronics Theory of Electronics Ability to Use Hand and Power tools - Electronics Trouble shooting (Electronic Equipment) Ingenuity (Ability to suggest and apply new methods) National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
