About the Position: As a Revetment Worker Leader assigned to the MSU you will observe and evaluate work performed and pace setting through production standards.
NOTE: The duty location of this position will be wherever the Mat Sinking Unit is located.
NOTE: This position is a Full-Time/Permanent/Seasonal position. You will work approximately 4-6 months per year and be placed in non pay status when work is unavailable
Duties
Set the pace for and insure continuous production of workers led by insuring compliance with instructions issued by supervisor and established methods and procedures common to the work performed.
Provide supervisor with informal appraisal and specific information pertaining to crew members performance, work habits, characteristics, and safety observance.
Train new employees, maintain discipline, set example and insure adherence to safety and good work habits.
Operate air-powered levers that activate the anchor-tying machine.
Observe and care for a diesel engine, compressor, and equipment located on the barge.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment physical.
- Work in inclement weather conditions.
- Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen as well as an annual drug screen.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Revetment Worker Leader without more than normal supervision. Duties include: Operating small machines and equipment, cleaning machine parts, equipment or tools, judge proper positioning of tools, and fasten concrete mattress sections to wire strands. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Efforts: Work frequently requires lifting, bending, and moving objects weighing in excess of 40 lbs. Constantly standing and walking is required.
Working Conditions: Works outside under all weather conditions, subject to dust, continuous noise and extremes in heat or cold. Requires continuous walking and frequent stooping and bending. Is subject to hazards of falling overboard, breaking cables, and working near moving cranes and equipment handling heavy loads.
