This position is located within Commander, Mid-Atlantic Region, Fleet and Family Readiness Program, Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department. The purpose of this position is to maintain the swimming pools in terms of maintenance of facilities and equipment, water chemistry, and facility cleanliness. This position is located at Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, VA.

Duties

Maintains water chemistry and sanitation in all pools. Operates water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards through readings , recording results, and making necessary corrections to achieve a safe, healthful balance. Changes barrels of chlorine and other chemicals and ensures that adequate supplies are on hand. Backwashes filters.

Qualifications

Resumes must include information which demonstrates experience and knowledge, skills, and ability (KSAs) as they relate to this position. Applicants are encouraged to be clear and specific when describing their experience level and KSAs. A qualified candidate possess the following: Skill in the use and maintenance of pool equipment with the ability to interpret pool readings to maintain proper water chemistry, backwash filters and operate automated feed equipment. Basic knowledge of Navy Safety and Health regulations and local policies is strongly preferred. Must have the ability to operate and perform routine maintenance and repair on a variety of equipment used in outdoor maintenance, such as weed eaters, lawn mowers, edgers, etc. Knowledge of basic cleaning and janitorial technique and procedures as well as the ability to work with basic equipment, materials and supplies used in maintaining facilities in a clean sanitary state. Must have the ability to follow verbal or written instructions and carry our instructions independently.
