Duties

You will serve as a primary administrator resource for voice and data telecommunications for Marine Corps Support Facility. You will independently administer, engineer, plan, and implement telecommunication installations and modifications involving a variety of available communications equipment, services, security methods and procedures and operating techniques. You will conduct programming, engineering, installation, operation and maintenance activities with the Marine Corps Support Facility telephone central office, remotes, and voice mail systems ensuring continuality in that activity. You will conduct inspections of operating telecommunications systems for adequacy, efficiency, and need for improvement. You will provide technical assistance and guidance to telecommunications systems users, managers, contracting personnel and personnel in other lines of work or disciplines.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Installing, maintaining, programming and repairing of base stations, dispatch consoles, radios (e.g., mobile, portable, and microwave radios) and associated equipment. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

You may also meet the minimum qualifications for this position through education and/or a combination of education and experience. Applicant must posses one of the following to qualify:

Master's or equivalent graduate degree

OR

2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

LL.B. or J.D., if related

OR

If qualifying based on a combination of education and experience, combines they must equal 100%.

Degree/education must fall into one of the following fields of study: Electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.

Other Education: Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis.
