You will serve as a Supervisory Engineer in the Industrial Controls Branch, Public Works Business Line, Utilities and Energy Management Product Line (UEM), Energy Management Division of Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Mid-Atlantic.
Duties
You will oversee the work assigned to the project management office subordinate personnel to accomplish projects in accordance with Command goals and objectives.
You will develop designs for energy projects involving civil, mechanical, or electrical systems (e.g., water, wastewater, electrical utility systems) to reduce energy costs.
You will coordinate technical project management efforts (e.g., design, system development, evaluations, certifications) with contractors to make corrective adjustments for program success.
You will perform inspections on electrical systems and electrical control systems to enhance system performance or maintainability.
You will plan the implementation of technology systems to ensure integration of electrical, mechanical, or electronic systems and components.

Qualifications

In addition to the Selective Placement Factor and basic requirements, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Developing and implementing an Industrial Control Systems (ICS) Program providing policy, budgeting and technical advice, coordinating audits, monitoring metrics and other actions to manage resources for the program; 2) Serving as the technical expert and focal point for the ICS Program covering multiple and major commands and/or organizations for the Department of Defense, Department of the Navy for Smart Grid Initiatives; 3) Integrating activities by collaborating with other business lines to ensure Information Assurance requirements are properly addressed in various electronic control systems and communication networks; 4) Providing analysis of complex ICS systems that will provide a detailed model of performance and economics, and enables an accurate assessment of changes in design, operation, and maintenance of hardware, software, equipment, etc. ; 5) Providing guidance and leadership to other engineers or technicians associated with project development and implementation of Smart Grid initiatives and with the sustainment of installed industrial controls infrastructure. A) Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
