About the Position: The Supervisory Conservation Law Enforcement Officer (CLEO) is responsible to the Chief, Police/Provost Marshal Division for the implementation and management of the Installation's Conservation Law Enforcement Program (CLEP).

Duties

Manage Installation’s Conservation Law Enforcement Program (CLEP). Supervise the activities of subordinate conservation law enforcement officers. Work with the Director of Public Works resource managers, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, the State Historic Preservation Officer, Range Control and the Installation Veterinary Services. Enforce Federal, State, and installation fish and wildlife regulations. Supervise and conduct investigations of criminal offenses. Patrol all areas for violations of law and breaches of security. Conduct compliance inspections of hunters, anglers and other recreationists to ensure their activities are properly licensed, permitted and authorized.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The position requires that applicant successfully graduate from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
  • The position requires that applicant successfully graduate from the USAMPS Conservation Law Enforcement Officer Course within one year of assignment.
  • Must be able to pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
  • Must meet the conditions of employment identified in Army Regulation (AR) 190-56; "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program,". Prior to appointment you must agree in writing to adhere to these conditions of employment.
  • This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. IAW AR 600-85, a DA 5019R Condition of Employment must be signed for mandatory drug testing.
  • The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position.
  • This position requires the selectee to qualify annually for the Individual Reliability Program (IRP) as explained in IAW 190-56, Chapter 3.
  • This position requires you to pass the record Physical Ability Test (PAT) within 30 days of being hired and annually thereafter.
  • Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
  • Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
  • TDY travel of 5% is occasionally required.
  • Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
  • This position is designated as Mission Essential (IAW DODI 3024.42 and DTM 17-004) position during Inclement Weather Conditions or other designed/identified emergency conditions.
  • Incumbent must be able obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Criminal Justice. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
