This position serves as the Chief of the Hospitalist Department of the Claremore Indian Hospital, located in Claremore, OK. The incumbent is responsible for providing clinical oversight of the hospitalist services for the facility, with clinical responsibilities in the inpatient and outpatient areas. The position reports to the CIH Deputy Clinical Director.
Relocation expenses are authorized to be paid for this position, a one year service agreement will be required if qualified.
Duties
Supervise and participate in the care of hospitalized patients, provide medical consultations to ambulatory patients, and perform clinical examinations, diagnoses, and treatment
Provide clinical oversight/supervision to Physicians, Certified Nurse Practitioners, and any other medical personnel as directed
Function as a consultant to medical personnel, physicians, and ancillary providers other facilities
Organize departmental work schedule, including daily operating assignments and monthly call schedule
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
In order to qualify for this position, your application must demonstrate that you meet all three of the following Basic Requirements:
1 - Degree:
Your resume and/or transcripts must reflect that you possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada accredited by either the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or another accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained
OR
Degree from Foreign Medical School:
Your resume and/or transcripts must reflect that you possess a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States as demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
2 - Medical License:
You must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
3 - Graduate Training:
You must also submit documentation showing that you have completed at least one (1) year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting through one of the below programs approved by an accrediting body recognized within the United States or Canada:
Completion of an internship through a hospital or other institution accredited for internship training by a recognized body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
Completion of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for training in the specialty by a recognized body of the American Medical Association (AMA) or ACGME.
Completion of a fellowship program which involved advanced training (beyond residency training) in a given medical specialty in either a clinical or research setting in a hospital or an institution accredited in the United States for such training.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Selective Placement Factor
Applicants applying in a specialty must meet one of the following as an approved agency-wide selective placement factor. This is part of the minimum requirements to qualify for the position.
Board Certified in the Specialty for which the applicant is applying.
OR
Active Registrant of the Board (Board Eligible - completion of residency within 7 years) in the Specialty to which the applicant is applying.
Your resume and supporting documents must demonstrate that you also meet the experience and/or graduate training as identifed below:
GS-15:
At least five (5) years of experience as a Hospitalist.
OR
Completion of five (5) total years of graduate training (internship, residency, or fellowship program) related to the Hospitalist specialty.
OR
A combination of experience as a Hospitalist and graduate training (internship, residency, or fellowship program) that when combined total at least five (5) years.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
