This position is located at one of the IHS Indian Health hospitals or clinics within the Bemidji Area Indian Health Service. The purpose of this position is the provision of comprehensive clinical medical care (Educative, Preventive, Curative, Rehabilitative) at a primary and secondary level in the specialty of Pediatrics in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

Duties

Examine and diagnose the health related conditions of individuals requesting care, refers individuals for consultation when appropriate, and prescribes and carries out appropriate therapy. Educate individuals in the nature of health related conditions, recommended therapy, and the general promotion of health and the prevention of disease. Record patient-provider transactions in the medical record and completes required data collection instruments, referrals, and medical records. Participates in medical staff functions such as medical program review, quality assurance activities, and organization functions including meetings.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association(external link); Association of American Medical Colleges(external link); Liaison Committee on Medical Education(external link); Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association(external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Medical School: A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates(external link), a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: For GS-14 -- 4 years of graduate training in the specialty of the position to be filled or equivalent experience and training. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
