This is a regular full-time position (40 hours) with eligibility to participate in the NAF Employee Benefits Plans.

Duties
Acts as water safety instructor. Manages all swimming lessons and instructs when scheduled, at the assigned aquatics facility.
Develops swim program according to students' ability and promotes students to higher level of swimming according to their skills.
Instructs all levels of swimming and appropriate strokes, to include front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly. Teach students from age groups of infants through adults.
Introduces and instructs safety and survival skills to students, when appropriate to level of instruction. Instructors work with lifeguards to ensure that swim lessons are safe at all times.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- A pre-employment occupational physical with a vision screening is required for this position.
- Incumbent must be willing and able to work weekends, weekdays, holidays and night duty, as well as irregular duties or when needed for special events and related requirements.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Must have current health assessment which documents good physical health, freedom from communicable disease IAW current Army policy.
- Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
- Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
- Incumbent subject to additional background checks for regular and recurring contact with children.
- Must have good vision (corrected vision if necessary) while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking. Conducts safety/health rule briefings to groups prior to use of the pool.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Work experience related to the duties described above.
2. Currently in possession of, or able to obtain prior to starting the position: (Certificates issue by American Red Cross, Ellis @ Associates, Star Guard or other nationally recognized agencies are acceptable)
Water Safety Instructor Certification
Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
First Aid Certification
Highly desirable possession of a Lifeguard Certification
