Duties
You will plan and perform plating and coating operations that are diverse and include depositions, coatings, and treatments.
You will examine items to be processed by use of chemicals, cleaning, etching or coating solutions and determines process methods to be employed in accordance variables that are involved.
You will perform electrolytic chromium electrodepositing.
You will use micrometer calipers for measuring plating or coating, thickness, scales for weighing materials, temperature gauges for setting up and maintaining heat control of tanks.
You will operate overhead crane, select rigging equipment and set up and operate conveyor system.
You will perform anodic hand coating of aluminum components.
You will prepare aluminum and aluminum alloys for anodizing by stripping items of dry film lubricant and old anodize coating utilizing chromic and chromic-phosphoric acid solutions.
You will perform cleaning operation of component parts and items by using steam, hot water, high pressure air, higher pressure water, blasting, or other methods as appropriate.
Requirements

- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current respirator and/or air-fed hood certification.
- You will be exposed to high noise levels.
- You will be required to pass periodic medical examinations and may require physical agility and vision tests.
- You will be required to work indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

You must have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including planning and performing plating and coating operations that include depositions, coating, and treatments; use of precise measuring instruments such as micrometer calipers for measuring plating or coating, and scales for weighing materials.
