You will serve as a MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC in the PORT OPERATIONS PROGRAM of COMNAVREGSW SDIEGO.
Duties
You will set up and operate machine tools (e.g., small lathes, milling machines, drill presses, precision grinders) to manufacture component parts.
You will install, replace, or change machine parts and attachments according to production specifications.
You will troubleshoot mechanical systems and components of marine machinery and equipment to identify needed repairs.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Mercury, and Johnson/Evinrude certification.
- This is a bargaining unit position.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Commercial Class A License needed to tow small boats off base and HAZMAT Endorsement to operate the Vacuum Truck.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain all standard oil spill response training as required by 29 CFR 1910.120.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
Qualifications

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO PERFORM THE WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION: 1) Applying specific maintenance and repair procedures to install, maintain, and repair marine machinery and equipment; 2) Ordering parts needed for a given repair job as specified in the job order or bill of materials; 3) Obtaining descriptions, opinions, and recommendations on the nature and extent of repairs required through discussions with operating personnel.
