About the Position: This is a Park Ranger, GS-0025-03 Summer Hire position for the U.S. Army corps of Engineers Tulsa District. This is a temporary appointment not to exceed 120 Days but may be extended without further competition.

Duties

Participate as a team member in efforts to control fires on the Government-owned land. Patrol an assigned area for detection of encroachment, unauthorized use, timber-cutting, vandalism, fire detection, theft, safety hazards, littering, etc. Provide information to visitors regarding recreation facilities and aids them in selecting areas suitable to their needs and desires.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: Students who are eligible for participation in the Department of the Army In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. General and Specialized Experience for GS-03: Six months of general experience which includes experience in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work that provided a familiarity with natural or cultural history; fish or wildlife habitat characteristics; techniques of resource protection and use; recreational use of public lands and facilities; enforcement of laws, rules, or regulations; fire prevention techniques and fire suppression methods; or the practice of interpersonal relations skills in dealing with the general public; AND three months specialized experience which includes patrolling public lands such as parks and historical/cultural sites. OR Education: One year of education above the high school level with six semester hours of related course work in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 9. Then divide your semester hours of education by 30. Add the two percentages.
