These positions are located in Spokane Valley District Office, Baker Field Office in the Vale District, and the Prineville District. Salary Ranges: Spokane Valley- $49,176 to 63,930 Baker City and Prineville- $49,025 to $63,733

Duties

This position serves as a Permanent Seasonal Park Ranger GS-0025-07 for a Bureau of Land Management (BLM), District Office. Funding for this position is established through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). This position supports the Outdoor Recreation program of the assigned Field Office, assisting with daily field operations and monitoring patrols at multiple recreation sites within the assigned areas of operation. Sites include campgrounds, day-use areas, dispersed sites, Wild & Scenic River put-ins, and off-highway vehicle (OHV) areas. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Providing the public with safe, accessible, and quality recreation opportunities. Monitoring conditions and use of public lands, waterways, and recreation sites using watercraft, vehicles, and on foot. Contacting public to support permit compliance, answer questions about use of public lands, educate visitors in "Leave No Trace" principles, safe recreation practices, fire prevention, etc. Performing day to day operations and minor maintenance tasks at recreation facilities, including developed fee sites, river access sites, dispersed camping sites, trails, trailheads, and other recreation facilities. Presenting a positive image of the BLM and conducting visitor contact in a courteous, professional, and friendly manner while wearing official BLM uniform.

Qualifications

This is a Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. Selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience. If qualifying based on education, a copy of your unofficial transcripts must be provided with your application. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing the following: (1) providing visitor information on the park's historical and natural features, travel routes, site use opportunities, or park activities; (2) inspecting facilities to ensure compliance with rules and regulations; (3) preparing recreation activities and/or sites for visitor use; (4) working with others to gather data and/or facilitate park usage. OR Education: Successfully completed one (1) year of graduate education in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources, or another closely related field that provided the knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR Met the requirements for Superior Academic Achievement by earning a Bachelor's degree in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources, or another closely related field that provided the knowledge and skills necessary for successful job performance, with at least one of the following: (1) a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale; (2) a 3.5 GPA or higher for required courses completed in a major field of study during junior and senior year of a 4-year college or university; (3) class standing of upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or a major subdivision of the college, such as the College of Liberal Arts, based on completed courses; or (4) membership in a National Scholastic Honor Society certified by the Association of College Honor Societies, excluding freshman honor societies. NOTE: Applicants must submit a copy of transcripts. OR Combination: Have a combination of education and experience as described above that, when converted to percentages, equal at least 100% of the total requirement. When combining education with experience, first determine your total qualifying education as a percentage of the education required for the grade level; then determine your experience as a percentage of the experience required for the grade level; finally, add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify this grade level. Note: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. Education

To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking. Transcripts do not need to be official, but if you are selected for this position and you used your education to qualify, you must provide official transcripts before you begin work.

If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must show that your education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.

PASS/FAIL COURSES: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) were taken on a pass/fail basis, your claim of superior academic achievement must be based upon class standing or membership in an honor society.

GRADUATE EDUCATION: One academic year of graduate education is considered to be the number of credits hours your graduate school has determined to represent one academic year of full-time study. Such study may have been performed on a full-time or part-time basis. If you cannot obtain your graduate school's definition of one year of graduate study, 18 semester hours (or 27 quarter hours) should be considered as satisfying the requirement for one year of full-time graduate study.
