Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Rio Grande Valley Sector, Law Enforcement Operational Programs, Strategic Communications, located in Edinburg, TX.

Duties

In this Audio Visual Production Specialist position, you will become a key team member of Homeland Security individuals involved in serving as a producer, director, script writer and production assistant in support of agency informational and messaging media production projects. This position starts at a salary of $86,962.00 (GS-12, Step 1) to $113,047.00 (GS-12, Step 10) with promotion potential to $113,047.00(GS-12 Step 10). Typical duties of this assignment include: Working closely with internal and external clients to determine their needs, setting up and/or supervising the Audio/Visual support during the events. Capturing video, taking photographs both indoors and in the field. Providing assistance in script preparation, creating electronic graphics to enhance presentation, editing videotapes for roll in and review, evaluating and editing finished programs. Creating and maintaining existing database of video imagery used for distribution as B-Roll to media outlets.

Basic Requirement: Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study - photography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position. Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis. Or Experience in the actual type of work for which application is made. Unpaid experience is creditable, provided the work done was of a quality level and demonstrated the ability required for the position. This includes work directly connected with the production aspects of the field(s) of the position to be filled. You qualify for this position if you meet the basic requirement listed above and possess the experience or substitution of education, if applicable, as described below: Experience: You qualify for the GS-12 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Using photo and video editing software for the development of digital media content. Coordinating and producing field productions (i.e. videography). Configuring and operating broadcast television equipment/systems and assisting in the recording and transmission of live and pre-recorded video productions. Using non-linear, digital editing systems.
