Duties

Incumbent operates a field-type tractor with attached and towed equipment. Plans the order in which work is to be accomplished; transports materials and equipment; and digs, loads, plants, clears, mows and dispenses liquid and solid materials. Performs minor maintenance on field-type tractors and attached and towed equipment. Adjusts the equipment for job requirements such as setting the height of mower blades, depth of plow blades, and the rate of application of sprayer attachments. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Subject to satisfactory condition of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a medical screening.
• Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
• Must be able to lift materials such as bags of fertilizer and seed weighing up to 100 pounds.

Qualifications

1. Applicant must have one-year related experience in operating and performing minor maintenance on a field-type tractor and associated equipment. 2. Applicants must have and retain valid driver's license. 3. May be required to obtain a government motor vehicle operator's permit. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Must have knowledge of tractor and equipment operating characteristics such as tractor gears, power ratios, braking and turning capacities, andequipment power requirements, capacities and operating speeds. Must be able to manipulate the tractor and equipment controls at the same time.
