You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN in the WARFIGHTER OPTIMIZATION DIRECTORATE, Bureau Medicine and Surgery Military Treatment Facility (BUMED MTF) of NMRTC CAMP PENDLETON CA.
Salary Range GS-07 $55,836 - $ 72,588 / GS-06 $50,246 - $65,322
This announcement uses the Expansion of Direct Hire Authority for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to certain positions in the competitive service.
Duties
You will under the direction of the Industrial Hygienist, plan, coordinate, and conduct complete sampling evaluation of work operations involving potential hazardous environmental conditions and provide written documentation.
You will use complex Industrial Hygiene instrumentation, gather, and analyze data and communicate finding to the cognizant Industrial Hygienist.
You will be responsible for the completion of Exposure Monitoring Plans for multiple naval activities on geographically dispersed.
You will manage equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair programs with the Industrial Hygiene Program Office (IHPO).
You will keep abreast of developments in the field on Industrial Hygiene equipment and instrumentation by researching relative primary literature and performing independent studies.

Qualifications
To qualify for GS-0640-07, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Assisting in industrial hygiene (IH) sampling surveys and studies to assess environmental conditions and work practices;
Conducting research on a specific hazard, sampling strategy, or correct equipment utilization;
Evaluating survey data and preparing reports on findings; AND
Utilizing automated information system for assembling, comparing, using, evaluating, and storing environmental health surveillance data, occupational personnel exposure information, workplace environmental monitoring data, and observation of work practices data, (e.g.,Defense Occupational and Environmental Health Readiness System- Industrial Hygiene (DOEHRS-IH)), and similar data collecting applications to enter collected data.
To qualify for GS-0640-06, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Collecting personal exposure data for subsequent laboratory analysis under guidance/direction/supervision;
Performing field measurements using Industrial Hygiene (IH) sampling equipment as directed;
Recording measurements/sampling data as require for establishing a historical record of occupational exposure, under the direction of the cognizant Industrial Hygienist; AND
Utilizing personal computers and MS Office Suite software products (e.g., Word, Excel, Access) to document technical work, prepare reports, etc…).
