About the Position: These positions will be filled in the Security Office located at the Engineering Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi.
Duties
Process personnel for background investigations utilizing the Secure Web Fingerprint Transmission (SWIFT) and the Personnel Security Investigation Portal (PSIP)
Monitor the manner in which sensitive material is handled and used; recommend appropriate corrective action where security requirements are not being observed.
Coordinate with scientific, technical, and other subject-matter specialists to assess risk of loss, value of loss, and the classification level appropriate to information sensitivity.
Develop, implement, and monitor policies, instructions, procedures, control systems, and methods for delegation and exercise of classification and declassification authority.
Perform duties as Special Security Representative (SSR) in the operation of a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
Perform daily security discipline activities including security briefings, indoctrinations, debriefings, and training/refresher training and Security, Education and Training Awareness.
Administers Special Compartmented Information (SCI) Security, Special Access Programs, Sensitive Activities, Operations, Personnel, Information, Industrial, and Physical Security.
Perform other duties, as necessary.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
- This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement up to 25% of the time.
- This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. General Experience: Three years progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the DJ-01 (GS-04) grade level, which includes (1) the ability to plan and organize work; (2) communicate effectively orally and in writing; and/or (3) experience in protecting sensitive unclassified/classified information using traditional security practices. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DJ-01(GS-04).

Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 36. Then divide your total number of completed undergraduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 120. Add the two percentages.
